How would I clean my CDs? Can it be washed? Can the scratches be removed?
I have audio cds which sometimes jumps in the middle of the song. How or can this thing be fixed? These are my precious collections. please help me.
Answer
Well, first yes you can quotcleanquot your CDs. The best method is buying CD cleaning fluid or clothes or even making your own fluid. If you dont want to buy an entire package for cleaning CDs such as allsop, you can just make your own fluid. One website that shows you how is httpwww.ehow.comhowmakeowncd.html. But as for removing scratches, that goes beyond cleaning and requires a system that generally uses a manually or electrically power wheel that presses firmly against the scratches and is suppose to remove light scratches. One argument that supports this is the notion that CDs are only generally scratched on the surface, thus they are not actually damaged. Removing these light scratches is suppose to make the CDs more readable by CD players lasers. The controversy about this is that most of these cleaning systems only work somewhat and any heavier scratches cannot be repaired. Overall, cleaning CDs with fluid or clothes will probably not remove any scratches, but it could improve quality because other things often get on the CDs such as hairs, sweat, etc. You can try a whole system, although it will not be able to make a severely damaged disc ie. heavy scratches playable again. I tried Disc Doctor and it worked alright, but was barely worth the hassle except on CDs that only skipped a little. The tooth paste thing I have never tried, but I have heard mixed results. If you do decide to try it, find a guide online because I think if it even does work, people often do it wrong. I have known people who did the same thing with metal cleaner as well.
